What IS a Genetics Major?
The Genetics Major is one of four majors under the umbrella of "Life Sciences". The other majors are Biological Sciences, Cell Biology and Neuroscience, and Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. They all share in common the core science courses: Biology 101/102, Chemistry 1, 2, and Lab, Physics 1 and 2 and the labs for each, Organic Chemistry 1, 2, and Lab, and Calculus 1 and 2. Each is a great option for someone interested in the sciences, and we suggest examining your interests in each. You can compare their requirements using Degree Navigator if you are a current Rutgers student. Otherwise, look through the department websites above.
